Girl Power! - BAFTA's Rising Stars Nominees

With past winners like Kristen Stewart, James McAvoy, and Tom Hardy, nabbing the EE BAFTA's Rising Star Award means only one thing: bigger and better things. Since 2006, the award has had an psychic ability to pinpoint those stars poised for greatness. While the nominees are usually male-oriented (in 2012 not one lady appeared on the list!), this year four out of the five up-and-comers being honored are female. Yay! Let's take a gander at the nominees' best looks from the past year.

Elizabeth Olsen - The younger (and dare we say cooler) Olsen sister, 23-year-old Elizabeth, made her name--four times over--as the damaged young cult member in "Martha Marcy May Marlene." Her acting chops are no joke, but neither is her incredible style. We shouldn't be surprised, really, when she shows up in cute outfit after cute outfit--she is, after all, half of the namesake of her sisters' line, Elizabeth & James. This Christian Dior black gown from her appearance at the 2012 Vanity Fair Oscars party knocked it out of the park.

Vikander at the Moet British Independent Film Awards, December 2012 - Not many rising stars get to wear Chanel Couture--that's an honor usually reserved for A-list celebrities and royalty. But Vikander wears this petal-pink gown from the couturier like she was born in it.

Andrea Riseborough - Riseborough, or as we like to think of her, "The Woman Formerly Known as Madonna's Muse," made headlines for gracing numerous red carpets on the arm of her "W.E." director in out-there gowns. While the latter half of 2012 was a quiet year for the 31-year-old actress, we’ll be seeing lots more of her in three 2013 big screen releases (including a sci-fi thriller with a little-known actor named Tom Cruise). This color-blocked jumpsuit is certainly a lot of look, but we love the way she paired the bright teals with a vibrant plum lip. 

Riseborough at the Mulberry SS 2013 Dinner, November 2012 - Take note: this is how to wear all-over prints. The classic cut of this suit--and the fact that her accessories are toned-down--make this outfit sing.
